In the petroleum refining process, programmable logic controller (PLC) is widely used to realize automatic control. The following are some common PLC applications in petroleum refining:
(1) Crude oil processing: PLC can be used to control various equipment in the crude oil processing unit, including pumps, valves, heaters, etc., to ensure the stable operation of the crude oil refining and separation process.
(2) Distillation tower control: PLC can monitor and control the temperature, pressure, liquid level and other parameters in the distillation tower to ensure that the fractionation process of oil in the distillation tower achieves the desired effect.
(3) Catalytic cracking unit control: PLC can be used to control the reactor, regenerator, circulation system, etc., in the catalytic cracking unit to achieve accurate control of oil molecular cracking and conversion.
(4) Control of catalytic reforming unit: PLC can monitor and control the reactor, regenerator, circulation system, etc., in the catalytic reforming unit to improve the octane number and quality of gasoline.
(5) Hydrogenation unit control: PLC can be used to control the reactor, hydrogenator, circulation system, etc., in the hydrogenation unit to reduce the content of impurities such as sulfur and nitrogen in petroleum products.
(6) Desulfurization unit control: PLC can be used to control the operation of the petroleum product desulfurization unit, including hydrogen supply, desulfurizer injection, reactor temperature control, etc., to achieve the desulfurization of petroleum products.
