Bentley Nevada 3500 Series Module Categories and Functional Descriptions
Bentley Nevada 3500 system is a widely used machinery condition monitoring and protection system in the industrial field, which is mainly used for monitoring vibration, temperature, displacement and other key parameters of rotating machinery (e.g. turbines, compressors, pumps, etc.). Its modular design can be flexibly configured according to the needs, and the following is the classification and functions of the main modules:
I. Monitoring Modules (Monitor Modules)
3500/42M four-channel vibration monitor
Function: Process vibration signals from eddy current sensors (e.g. 3300 XL 8mm probe), monitor peak and peak values of shaft vibration, gap voltage, etc.. Supports alarm and hazard threshold settings.
3500/45 Temperature Monitoring Module
Function: Receives thermocouple (Thermocouple) or RTD (RTD) signals, monitors bearing temperature, lubricant temperature, etc., and provides over-temperature alarms.
3500/50 Speed/Phase Monitoring Module
Function: Measurement of rotational speed and calculation of phase angle by Keyphasor signal for dynamic balancing or fault diagnosis.
3500/44M Axial Displacement Monitoring Module
Function: Monitors axial displacement (thrust bearing position) to prevent mechanical damage to equipment due to excessive displacement.
3500/46M Differential Expansion Monitoring Module
Function: Monitor the differential expansion between rotor and stator to avoid friction caused by thermal expansion.
II. Input/Output Modules (I/O Modules)
3500/32 Relay Module
Function: Provides 4-channel relay outputs for triggering alarms, shutdowns, or interlock control.
3500/33 Redundant Relay Module
Function: Supports redundantly configured relay modules to improve system reliability.
3500/55 Buffer module
Function: Copy the original sensor signal and output it to external devices (e.g. analyzers) without affecting the main monitoring channel.
Third, communication and interface modules (Communication Modules)
3500/92 Modbus TCP interface module
Function: Integrate monitoring data into DCS/SCADA system via Modbus TCP protocol.
3500/93 Ethernet/IP Interface Module
Function: Supports Ethernet/IP protocol for Rockwell control systems.
3500/20 Frame Interface Module (RIM)
Function: As the main controller of the frame, it manages inter-module communication, system configuration and data storage.
Power Supply Modules
3500/15 Power Supply Modules
Function: Provide 24V DC power supply for the frame, support redundant configuration to enhance reliability.
V. Auxiliary Modules
3500/25 Keyphase Module
Function: Processes key phasor signals to provide a reference for vibration phase analysis.
3500/40 Transient Data Interface Module
Function: Captures high-speed transient data (e.g., start/stop processes) for troubleshooting.
System Configuration Tools
3500 Rack Configuration Software
Function: Configure module parameters, alarm thresholds, communication protocols, etc. through the software, and support offline simulation.
Application Scenario Examples
Turbine protection: Combine 3500/42M (vibration), 3500/45 (temperature) and 3500/32 (relay) to realize all-round protection.
Compressor unit monitoring: Preventing wheezing and mechanical failures with 3500/44M (axial displacement) and 3500/50 (speed).
Advantages
High reliability: API 670 compliant for use in harsh industrial environments.
Modular Expansion: Flexibility to add monitoring channels as needed.
Intelligent diagnostics: supports real-time data analysis and historical trend recording.
