Overview:
The IS200EISBH1A is an exciter synchronization bus board used in the GE EX2100 system and serves as a key communication interface between exciter controllers.
It is a single slot, 3U high module located in the control rack under the DSPX.
Function description:
ISBus is GE's proprietary communication interface for transferring data between the exciter's M1, M2, and C controllers.
EISB receives the fiber feedback signal through the control backplane and transmits it to the DSPX controller.
EISB also uses the RS-232C to communicate between DSPX and tools and keyboard ports via backbone connectors.
EISB includes ISBus interface electronics for redundant exciters.
Interfaces and connections:
The EISB receives current and voltage signals from the generator's magnetic field (and exciter if necessary) through fiber optic connectors on the front panel.
The optical fiber connectors on the front panel include the EDCF board generator field DC voltage input, current input, exciter voltage input (optional), exciter current input (optional), ground detector voltage input and output for receiving and transmitting frequency conversion signals.
The EISB also includes a reset switch, usually located behind the hole in the lower part of the front panel.
Communication function:
To communicate with the keyboard, the EISB has an RS-232C driver that provides +24 V dc for the power supply and 24 V dc return voltage from the backplane.
