The EATON MTL831C multiplexer is an analog transmitter designed to transmit input signals from multiple hazardous areas along the data highway to safe areas. The device is inherently safe, so it can be installed in zone 0 hazardous areas or hazardous locations. The MTL831C can monitor up to 16 inputs from a THC or millivolt supply or 2, 3, or 4-wire RTD or potentiometer.


It provides a data highway that can transmit signals and power over distances of up to 2 km, depending on the application, cable and (noisy) environment. This data highway consists of single-shielded twisted pair cables, which are highly recommended.


At the other end of the data highway, the MTL838C receiver will receive the information sent by the MTL831C. One or two MTL831Cs can be connected to a single MTL838C. The MTL838C provides output representation and status information for Modbus serial data inputs.
